Bloomsburg Women's Cross Country Remains in Top Ten
BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University women's cross country team, winners of both the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship and the NCAA Division II Cross Country Regional Championship, is ranked in the top ten of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) Division II women's cross country poll for the second consecutive week.
Last weekend, Bloomsburg captured their first NCAA Regional Championship in school history (both men or women). Leading the way for the Huskies was Amber Hackenberg (Middleberg/Middleberg) who finished sixth overall in a time of 21:51 on Lock Haven University's 6k course.
Along with Hackenberg, two other Bloomsburg runners finished in the top ten. Andrea Kellock (Lansdale/North Penn) finished right behind Hackenberg in seventh position at 21:56, while Beth Schwing (Hershey/Lower Dauphin) finished ninth in a time of 22:05. All three runners earned All-Regional honors for their efforts.
Bloomsburg will return to action on November 17th, when they take part in the NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships. It will be contested on the Missouri Southern State University Cross Country Course in Joplin, Missouri.
