KUTZTOWN— The Bloomsburg University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Maroon and Gold meet at Kutztown University. The women's team finished fourth out of 10 teams while the men finished ninth of nine teams.
Senior Michelle Wolyniec (Plains/Coughlin) finished second with a time of 23:10 in a six kilometer event while junior Amanda Eltrigham (Marlton, NJ/Bishop Eustach) finished 15th in 25:07.
Also finishing in the top 30 were junior Gwen Stevens (Nazareth/Easton) and sophomore Jen Lantz (Mt. Joy/Hempfield). Stevens finished 20th with a time of 25:33, while Lantz finished 22 in 25:41.
Freshman Julie Bloom finished 32nd with a time of 26:22.
For the men, freshman Matt Zappile was the top finisher at 39th with a time of 29:38, while sophomore John Hanlon (Ridley Park/Cardinal O'Hara) finished 60th in 30:41.
The men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Lafayette for the Lafayette Invitational, Saturday, September 11, at 10:00 a.m.
