Huskies' Cross Country Competes at Lafayette

BLOOMSBURG— The Bloomsburg University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Lafayette Invitational Saturday. The team's finished 9th and 8th, respectively, in the competition.

The University of Pennsylvania won the men's competition and Princeton won the women's race.

For the Bloomsburg men, freshman Matt Zappile was the top finisher, 64th overall, in 29:10. Sophomore John Hanlon finished 80th overall in 30:21. Other finishers included sophomore Verne Wadel (94th at 32:48) and freshman Anthony Bullock (97th at 39:30).

Senior Michelle Wolyniec led the Huskies' women, finishing fourth overall in 19:13. Sophomore Amanda Eltringham finished 30th at 20:12. Other finishers included junior Jennifer Lantz (60th at 21:03), sophomore Julie Bloom (62nd at 21:09), junior Gwen Stevens (76th at 21:38), freshman Stephanie McCauley (102nd at 23:33), sophomore Carrie Ann Hiltebeitel (106th at 24:20) and sophomore Rachel Lillie (109th at 24:40).

Both Huskies teams will compete at next week's Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational. The men's race starts at 9 a.m.; the women's race begins at 10 a.m.
