Bloomsburg Cross Country Races at Lehigh's Paul Short Invitational

BETHLEHEM—The Bloomsburg University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Paul Short Invitational this weekend at Lehigh University. The women's team took 25th out of 32 total teams with 658 team points, while the men's team finished 30th with 958 points.

Senior Michelle Wolyniec (Plains/Coughlin) was the top finisher for the Huskies with a 51st place finish in 18:54.11. Sophomore Kim Kasper took 112th with a time of 19:52.44 while sophomore Julie Bloom (Lafayette, NY/Tully) finished 120th in 19:50.63.

For the men, freshman Matt Zappile (Augusta, NJ/Pope John XXIII) was the top Husky finisher at 184th with a time 20:41.53, and sophomore John Hanlon (Ridley Park/Cardinal O'Hara) finished 194th in 29:47.21.

James Madison University captured first place on the men's side with 37 team points, while Georgetown took first for the women with 39 points.

The Huskies will next be in action Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Allentown Invitational, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
