The mission of the division of Student Affairs at Bloomsburg University is to facilitate a university experience integral to student success. As educators, Student Affairs professionals intentionally develop an environment contributing to a student’s learning and leadership, as well as personal and professional development.

Strategic Priorities (2011-15)

Student Affairs engages in intentional partnerships throughout our campus community to deepen academic activities and foster a successful educational environment.

Student Affairs is committed to the efficient use of resources, while seeking entrepreneurial opportunities to provide high quality programs and services for our students and community.

Strategic Issue 3: Designing an enrollment vision in terms of demand, program mix and capacity

Student Affairs actively shapes enrollment through relevant admission practices and creates a student-centered environment conducive to recruitment and retention.

Strategic Issue 4: Fostering and developing a strong sense of community

Student Affairs cultivates an environment that encourages students to view themselves as a part of a larger world. Our community values engagement, leadership, diversity, inclusivity, civility, wellness, self-reliance and compassion.

Strategic Issue 1: Enhancing Academic Excellence

Increase collaboration with academic affairs through the new general education curriculum
• Form division committee to encourage and develop proposals for submission to the Gen Ed committee

Identify partnership opportunities with academic affairs

• Redesign and increase Living and Learning communities
• Engage in the ongoing development of the University seminar and other first-year experiences
• Strengthen collaboration with faculty on out-of-classroom high-impact learning opportunities such as service learning and career development

Explore current student leadership models and define a coordinated approach for BU students

Explore more collaborative programming and leadership opportunities

Regularly evaluate our programs and services for improvement opportunities

Identify creative ways to secure funding sources outside of the university

Assure Student Affairs programs and services adjust to changing demographics
