New for Fall semester 2014

  • Microsoft Office is now available to students free of charge for personal use on up to five devices. Check the Purchasing Info page for installation instructions as well as other discounts available to you.
  • We have completed a major project to identify and resolve wireless coverage issues, adding over one hundred new access points throughout residence halls and apartments.
  • Game consoles are now compatible with the wireless network and no longer require a wired connection.
  • We now only offer wired connectivity in residence halls and apartments upon demand, so you should plan to connect wirelessly. If your computer does not have a wireless network adapter, we recommend that you purchase one prior to arriving on campus. Any students requiring wired connectivity may submit a “Wired Network Connection Request” through the Office of Residence Life, at a cost of $50.00 per activation.
  • Pre-registration from home prior to arriving on campus is no longer available. After arriving on campus, simply connect to the bloomu-open wireless network to initiate the registration process for internet access.
  • The new registration system supports a wide variety of Windows anti-virus programs. If you are running Windows 8 and do not have any anti-virus software installed, we recommend activating Windows Defender. Information on this process is available on the Residential Computing page.
  • Another Residential Computing Helpdesk has opened in the basement level of Ben Franklin Hall, Room 15.
