Public events at which a large attendance is anticipated always involves blocks of reserved parking spaces with signs and direction by University Police. If no specific parking is designated, visitors can search for parking near the venue.
Parking on campus is most restricted during regular office hours on weekdays. If you're coming to an event, best bet is to stop at Buckingham Maintenance Center (Lightstreet Road and Swisher Drive), to obtain a visitors parking pass and directions on where you can park closest to your destination. Failure to display a parking pass can result in a ticket ($15 fine, ticketing hourly). Some event organizers have parking passes to distribute in advance.
Parking in the evenings and on weekends is more relaxed and parking passes are not generally required unless another event has set up reserved parking. Best bets for parking near Carver Hall (Gross Auditorium) is in the parking deck at the corner of Second and Penn Streets. Best bets for Mitrani Hall (Haas Center) is in the lot behind McCormick Center for Human Services.
