Winner of seven Tony Awards and a Grammy Award, the Tim Rice/Andrew Lloyd Webber collaboration Evita tells the life story of the beloved wife of Argentina's president Juan Peron entirely through song and dance. The story begins in 1934 with the young Eva. It follows her rise to prominence as an advocate for the working class who obtains enormous wealth and power. Patti LuPone originated the role of Evita on Broadway in 1979 and Madonna portrayed her in the 1996 film version. The show's most memorable song is "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina."

Friday, April 25, noon, Haas Center for the Arts, Mitrani Hall. WThe BU Jazz Festival invites middle and high school musicians to the university to perform for a panel of jazz educators, receive feedback and learn from professional musicians. This year's festival features a lunchtime concert by Bobby Zankel and The Warriors of Wonderful Sound, open to the student musicians and the general public. Zankel, a composer and saxophonist, leads a 14-member band dedicated to performing original modern jazz that mixes bebop with the soul and blues depth of Duke Ellington and Count Basie touched with an avant-garde energy and spirituality. Presented as part of Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour (PennPAT).
