MLK Banquet to feature 'Titans' coach

BU will host its 15th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Banquet on Friday, Feb. 2, at 5 p.m. in the Kehr Union Ballroom. The evening will feature keynote speaker Herman Boone, who will discuss his life changing experiences as an African-American head coach of the Titans in 1971. This story was captured in the Disney movie "Remember the Titians" released in 2000, starring Academy Award winner Denzel Washington.

Boone will focus on building and sustaining winning teams, respect, teamwork, community involvement and the importance of character.

The banquet will also include presentation of the Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Awards for community, staff, faculty and students.

Cost of the banquet is $25 for faculty, staff and community members, and $15 for BU students. The last day reservations will be accepted is Friday, Jan. 25.
