Delta Pi/Sigma Pi Alumni Association helps current brothers

Current brothers of one BU fraternity are benefiting from the generosity of their alumni. The Delta Pi/Sigma Pi Alumni Association (DPSPAA) at BU has established a scholarship endowment to help Delta Pi brothers achieve their educational goals. In just one year, the fund exceeded the $10,000 required to make the scholarship permanent.

The DPSPAA has the goal of adding $10,000 a year to the scholarship fund, which was established through the BU Foundation, according to DPSPAA board member Roger Lowry. The association plans to award multiple scholarships to active Delta Pi brothers in coming years.

Other projects initiated by the DPSPAA include a "Books for Brothers" program, which allows current Delta Pi brothers to purchase textbooks using gift cards provided by the fraternity's alumni association. Every current Delta Pi brother receives one of these gift cards. "While the DPSPAA Scholarship will provide significant support to a few brothers, the 'Books for Brothers' program will provide a tangible reminder to all active brothers that the alumni have their academic progress in mind," according to Lowry.

The DPSPAA has nearly 700 members and plans numerous alumni events, including a golf tournament, camping, a family day at an amusement park and a formal gathering during Bloomsburg's Homecoming.
