The staff of the division of corporate and continuing education have been presented with a STRIVE (Staff and Team Recognized in their Valuable Efforts) award for their adaptability in working for a year after they were displaced from their Magee Center headquarters.
The staff of the Division of Corporate and Continuing Education is presented with the STRIVE Award by president David Soltz. Shown from upper left to bottom right are: director Tom Fletcher, custodian Kim Albertson, program coordinator Karen White, minicourse program coordinator Amy Jo Casey, and President David Soltz.
Linda Hill, a university relations staff member and continuing education instructor, wrote the following nomination letter:
In June 2006, the staff of the Magee Center was displaced through an act of nature - flooding. They soon took up residence at the Caldwell Consistory. While being located at the Caldwell, they endured all the "luxuries" of a permanent office not to mention the overcrowded conditions and the day to day issues of being in someone else's place of business. They persevered and continued to serve the region as a corporate friend and continuing education resource. The light is at the end of the tunnel has been seen, and they are now back "home." The university community probably will never know the half of what they have been through. It's time to recognize their efforts to make the best of a bad situation. My hats off to them.
They deserve this recognition and I trust the committee will be in agreement with me.
Recipients of the STRIVE Award, which is supported by the BU Foundation, receive tickets for the Celebrity Artist Series as well as other donated gifts.
