Faculty and staff support is making a difference
Gifts and pledges through the 2008 Faculty and Staff Appeal have reached more than $49,000 to date, a 14 percent increase over last year. Annual gifts provide vital support to our students in all aspects of their education. Here are just a few examples of how the campus community is making a difference.
- A retired staff member established an endowed scholarship to support diversity.
- A number of university employees supported the BU Relief Fund which provides aid to fellow employees.
- A retired faculty member established a scholarship to help Anthropology and Language & Cultures majors taking part in year-long study abroad experiences.
- Several faculty and staff members provided in-kind donations to their departments.
- The Department of Sociology/Social Work/Criminal Justice established an award to honor the memory of long-time faculty member, Anne K. Wilson, to help students who have a demonstrated a commitment to sociology.
- Several faculty members have continued the late Wayne Anderson's dream to fund chemistry student research awards.
- Many university employees support athletic programs as well as student athletes.
- A retired faculty member established an endowment to fund a resource center to help teach families and professionals about working with people with exceptionalities, particularly autism.
- Several faculty and staff members support the University General Fund which uses gifts where the need is greatest.
Every contribution to the Faculty and Staff Appeal, regardless of the amount, truly has a tremendous effect in every corner of the university.
