Alumni donate $392,000 through phonathon

BU's annual phonathon program, administered by the development office, experienced tremendous success in fiscal year 2007-2008 raising funds to support many students, faculty, and programs. Again this year, BU partnered with RuffaloCODY, an organization which assists hundreds of universities and colleges throughout the country with their telephone fundraising programs. BU's phone program generated more than $392,000 in gifts and pledges.

Compared to last year's program, gift revenue increased by 37 percent and overall alumni and parent participation increased by 20 percent. Financial support generated through the calling program allows Bloomsburg to continue offering a high quality education that tuition and state funding alone cannot sustain.

In addition, Bloomsburg University student callers also remain a vital part of the Annual Fund Program. Each semester, student callers gather nightly in the calling center located in Elwell Hall to phone alumni, parents and friends of the university. Students serve as ambassadors for Bloomsburg, fostering relationships with individuals by updating them on campus news and inviting alumni to regional and local events. They also conduct thank-you calls to donors for recent gifts.

The calling program serves as a vehicle to raise essential funds and stay in touch with the supporters of the university.
