Emil Mikle, project manager in the planning and construction office, has been presented with the STRIVE (Staff and Team Recognized in their Valuable Efforts) award for both his leadership in managing the renovations of Magee Center.

Tom Fletcher, director of corporate and continuing education in the Magee Center, wrote the following nomination letter.

I would like to nominate Emil Mikle for this award for the following reasons:

  • Emil exceeded all expectations while serving as the Construction Manager for the last 18 months of renovations to The Magee Center, following the Flood of 2006. Emil provided prompt service, continuous communications to the Department regarding progress and concerns, and handled all unexpected information in a professional manner to completion.
  • Emil kept the contractors on track, demanding both high quality work and timeliness in completing the project.
  • He met all deadlines in a timely manner, and always went out of his way to update the staff and get their input regarding new information or changes to the project.
  • His service to the Department went beyond all expectations throughout the construction.

Recipients of the STRIVE Award, which is supported by the BU Foundation, receive tickets for the Celebrity Artist Series as well as other donated gifts.
