Pam Wasko and Sharon Moyer, project manager in the planning and construction office, has been presented with the STRIVE (Staff and Team Recognized in their Valuable Efforts) award for their work in implementing a new computerized maintenance management system for the Facilities Department.

Eric Milner, assistant vice president for administration, wrote the following nomination letter.

Pam Wasko and Sherry Moyer were the driving forces behind the implementation of a new computerized maintenance management system for the Facilities Department. They worked independently with a contractor to design a system that tracks all of the preventative maintenance requirements for the campus and provides a maintenance work order system that replaces the mainframe based MAPPER system.

Their insightful, conscientious effort has created a system that exceeds all expectations. Customers can now track their work requests easier. Billing has been improved and will be more comprehensive. The facilities department now has a tool to more efficiently and effectively maintain the University's facilities.

However it is not only the results of their efforts that are noteworthy. It was particularly inspiring to see their unwavering positive attitude to the many challenges faced, and overcome, in conquering this difficult task. Simply put, their efforts created the system that is the backbone of our maintenance efforts and we will be reaping the rewards of their efforts for years to come.

Recipients of the STRIVE Award, which is supported by the BU Foundation, receive tickets for the Celebrity Artist Series as well as other donated gifts.

Employees can find nomination forms for STRIVE can be found on the university's network on the "S" drive in the "BU Documents" folder. Questions and nominations can be sent to Kim Schmitz.
