   Bad Weather Procedure

In the event severe weather conditions threaten to disrupt class and/or administrative office schedules, the primary concern will be the safety and welfare of the students, faculty and staff.

In such situations, the following will be initiated:

The vice president for administration (or designee) will contact the Pennsylvania State Police and/or Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to ascertain the condition of roads accessing Bloomsburg University. Additionally, the vice president will confer with BU's physical plant director to evaluate potential difficulties in keeping campus roads and parking areas clear during the day.

The vice president may confer with other members of the cabinet to develop a recommendation for the president on the status of classes/administrative offices. If severe weather conditions exist prior to the start of the class and administrative office schedules, a decision will be made by 5:15 a.m.

Following the president's decision, the vice president will immediately inform the director of media relations, who will use the appropriate outlets (listed below) to disseminate the information.

Cabinet members will initiate methods in place (phone trees, etc.) to inform the employees under their direction. Updates will be issued if the weather affects more than one class and administrative office day.
