Housenick, of Bloomsburg, is a graduate of Bloomsburg University and was a member of the Bloomsburg Town Council for 12 years. His previous careers include president and general manager of the former Housenick Motor Co. and an account executive with the financial planning firms of E.F. Hutton and Co., Williamsport, and Oppenheimer and Co., Bloomsburg.

Housenick also has a history of community service. He chaired the town's parking and municipal authorities and is a past director of the Bloomsburg Rotary Club, Columbia Montour Chamber of Commerce and Columbia Alliance for Economic Growth.

His memberships include the Bloomsburg chapter of the Elks, the Eagles Mere Country Club and the Bloomsburg Fair Association. Housenick was appointed to the Council of Trustees in 2005.
