The Husky Research Corporation, Inc., a non-profit organization under Section 501 (c) (3), began operations in 2003. It was established to support the educational and research activities of Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, a public university owned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It is an affiliated foundation with the University.
The Husky Research Corporation, Inc. submits grant proposals on behalf of and with the approval of Bloomsburg University. It will serve as a fiscal agent for such grants and contracts that require more administrative flexibility than can be provided by the University. The Corporation will also administer contracts that support the clinical activities of the University's health education programs such as the Speech and Hearing Clinic of the Speech Pathology and Audiology program and the Wellness Center of the Nursing Program. These clinics provide students with an essential clinical experience and operate as low cost health resources for the community. They are non-profit activities but fees are charged (and third party payers billed) to cover expenses of operation. To date the Husky Research Corporation has negotiated over $1,000,000 in grants and contracts for the University.
The Husky Research Corporation may also promote research activities at Bloomsburg University by supporting seminal research through direct grant funding. It will also manage intellectual property developed by faculty and staff of Bloomsburg University where the intellectual property rights reside with the University. These activities will be coordinated by the Executive Director if and as they are needed.
The Husky Research Corporation does not engage in fundraising activities such as public campaigns, direct mailings, etc. Funds received by the Corporation will be those generated by grants and contracts that support the educational and research mission of Bloomsburg University.
