The Victim Advocate


The director of the Women's Resource Center also serves as the Victim Advocate (VA) on a case by case basis:
  • meets/speaks with students in a confidential setting
  • offers emotional support
  • offers education about student and victim rights, laws, the university conduct system, and protection orders
  • works with students to develop a safety plan or document stalking
  • helps students explore options in reporting to police and/or the Office of Student Standards
  • serves as an advisor in the student conduct process
  • advocates for students' safety on campus
  • advocates for a student victim/survivor's academic needs
  • facilitates discussions with friends and family about gender violence, trauma, and how to support victim/survivor
  • refers the student to appropriate resources
