Bachelor of Fine Arts post graduate preparation for:

  • A masters degree in art therapy
  • A masters degree in information technology
  • A Masters of Fine Arts degree (terminal degree for teaching at a college level)

Foundations Requirements (6 credits)

  • ARTSTDIO 153 Foundation Design                                                                       3 credits

  • ARTSTDIO 111 Introductory Drawing                                                                   3 credits

Interdisciplinary Studio Requirements (18 credits)

Students must take one 200 level course in each of the following disciplines:

  • Painting                                                                                                                   3 credits

  • Photography                                                                                                          3 credits

  • Sculpture                                                                                                                3 credits

  • Printmaking                                                                                                             3 credits

  • Fabric Design                                                                                                         3 credits

  • Graphic Design                                                                                                       3 credits

BFA Concentration Requirements (12 credits)

During required advising sessions, students will ensure that concentration requirements are satisfied. Students must take four course in ONE of the following concentrations: Painting, Photography, Sculpture, Printmaking, Fabric Design or Graphic Design

  • Second course in discipline                                                                                    3 credits

  • Third course in discipline                                                                                        3 credits

  • Fourth course or Advanced in discipline                                                                3 credits

  • BFA Portfolio in discipline                                                                                      3 credits

Portfolio Requirements (0 credit requirement of the major)

  • Sophomore Review                                                           

  • Junior Review                                                        

  • Senior Review

BFA Seminar (3 credits)

  • ARTSTDIO 498 BFA Seminar (senior year)                                                          3 credits

Art Studio Electives (21 credits)

  • Any 7 (200 level or above) ARTSTDIO Prefix Courses                                         21 credits

Art History Requirements (15 Credits)

  • ARTHIST 235 Art History Survey I Ancient – Early Ren                                       3 credits

  • ARTHIST 236 Art History Survey II Ren – Late Modern                                       3 credits

  • Any 2 (200 level of higher) ARTHIST Prefix Course *                                           6 credits

    *Graphic Design Students must take ARTHIST 370 History of Graphic Design

  • ARTHIST 460 OR other 300/400 level Art History                                    3 credits                     

BFA - TOTAL                                                                                                 75 credits

PLUS - Free Elective and General Education Studies (45 Credits)

*Required General Education Non-Visual Art Elective (Music, Theater, or Dance prefix)               3 Credits
