Business Education (B.S.Ed.)

Business Education is the Zeigler College of Business’s oldest program, dating back to the 1930s. Our legacy and reputation across the state, and our strong alumni base, have school districts looking first to hire our students. We have a 100% placement rate, with most students being hired prior to graduation.

Since its inception in 1930, the business education program at Bloomsburg University has maintained its excellent reputation in teacher preparation within Pennsylvania and other states. The program’s 4,000+ alumni promote the ideals of educating students for success in business and life. Graduates of the business education program have specialized knowledge and skills to prepare them for:

  • positions teaching business, computers and information technology at the K-12 educational levels
  • training managers for business and government
  • teaching in proprietary business schools

Graduates may also serve as coaches and advisors to student organizations and are prepared for graduate study in business, education or related fields.

Bloomsburg Because

Our business education program offers practical and realistic learning activities, hands-on instruction in new and emerging information technology to engage students and includes teaching, learning observations, and experiences in K-12 diverse educational settings. Prepare for PA certification in business, computer and information technology. And take advantage of the opportunity to continue your education through our Master of Business Education program where you can advance your study in business, education or related fields.

Field Experiences

Bloomsburg's network with school districts goes beyond the placement of our student teachers. Each year several hundred middle and high school students come to campus to participate in our Husky Dog Pound business plan competition, directed by our business education faculty. Most business education majors have an "A-Ha" moment once they first begin student teaching. You'll be prepared for the classroom, but true teaching experience is what ties it all together. Student teachers work with a supervising instructor and an experienced cooperating teacher who work with you as you develop your skills. While gaining a breadth of experience is important, you'll have the opportunity to remain at one school throughout your placement and gradually pick up a full teaching schedule.
