For the M.Ed. with Certification and M.Ed. with Instructional Internship routes
Certain business prerequisite courses must be completed before an Instructional I certification can be issued in Business Education. This is to ensure that students have a well-rounded knowledge base in different business content areas. A transcript analysis by the student’s advisor will occur to determine which prerequisite(s) course(s), if any, are needed to be completed.*
Please note: Work experience may also be substituted for one or more prerequisite courses at the discretion of the student's advisor.
*Students who completed a four-year degree in business, such as a BSBA or similar degree, or a graduate degree such as an MBA, will not need to complete any business content courses from below other than keyboarding

Students
If you're currently teaching on emergency certification, or are considering a job as a business teacher in Pennsylvania and do not currently have teaching certification and have accepted a teaching business teaching position, then the Instructional Internship is for you. You can complete the program in as little as three years while earning your Master’s degree in Business Education. The program is hybrid, and many of the required courses can be completed fully online. After you have completed the Internship requirements including Master’s degree requirements, then you may qualify for the next tier of certification which is Instructional I certification.

Administrators
If your school is having difficulty finding a certified business education teacher then the Instructional Internship in BCIT may be beneficial. School districts from all over Pennsylvania can take advantage of the Instructional Internship in BCIT and have a fully licensed business education teacher in the classroom under the supervision of teacher educators who are former business teachers.
In order to qualify for the Instructional Internship in BCIT, these requirements must be met as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE):
- All clearances on file and current as of one year
- Passed Praxis II tests: Fundamental Subjects and Business Education Content Knowledge
- Be of good moral character
- Be 18 or older
- Hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree AND a minimum of a 3.0 GPA
- Enrolled in a Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) approved Intern program (Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania)
- Secure a full-time or long-term (one year minimum) substitute position in business education
- Submitted an application through the TIMS website
