Radiation Science, also known as Health Physics, is the science of radiation protection which is diverse and one of the most interesting and rewarding fields of scientific endeavor. And BU offers the only undergraduate program in PA!

A profession of protection

This profession is devoted to protecting people and their environment from potential radiation hazards, while making it possible to enjoy the beneficial uses of radiation in medicine, energy generation, industry, and research. There are few radiation science graduates, and yet the demand for them is great!

In addition to basic education in physical science and other specialized courses, the students in this program are required to be involved in an internship, which provides them with a real-world experience beyond what they can learn in a classroom, and helps them with career readiness and marketability. Graduates from the radiation science (health physics) program are usually employed shortly after graduation. They may work in a variety of fields including:
