Add to Calendar 2021-10-21 14:00:00 2021-10-21 15:00:00 Globalization and Regional Economic Divides Dr. Gordon Hanson, Professor of Urban Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School, will be presenting Globalization and Regional Economic Divides. Hanson is the Peter Wertheim Professor of Urban Policy at Harvard Kennedy School. He teaches courses on urban economic policy, state and local economic development, and the causes and consequences of inequality.  Outside of teaching, Dr. Hanson is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, a life member on the Council on Foreign Relations and a co-editor of the Journal of Economic Perspectives.   Before joining Harvard University, he received his Ph.D. in economics from MIT and his B.A. in economics from Occidental College. He was also the Pacific Economic Cooperation Chair in Economic Relations at UC San Diego and worked at University of Michigan and University of Texas on their economics faculties.  Dr. Hanson’s current research focuses on globalization in the form of immigration and expanded trade with China and how it has affected local U.S. labor markets. He is also working with a team of scholars to assess impacts of expanding transportation networks, exposure to extreme weather, and related events on urban economic activity using satellite imagery.  Event will broadcast live. Hanson is the Peter Wertheim Professor of Urban Policy at Harvard Kennedy School. He teaches courses on urban economic policy, state and local economic development, and the causes and consequences of inequality.
