Delayed Open-Classes Remain at Scheduled Time / Liberal Leave
If the classes and/or administrative office day have yet to begin (on a delayed opening), all classes will remain at the scheduled time. Essential employees must report at the regular time, unless otherwise directed by their supervisor. All staff employees at all campus locations must report on time or utilize liberal leave.
Classes Cancelled/Liberal Leave
This decision will be made prior to or during the class and/or administrative office schedule. If the class schedule has begun, classes may be curtailed for the remainder of the day at a designated hour including evening classes (4:30 p.m. and later). Essential employees (see below) must remain and/or report, unless otherwise directed by their supervisor, and all offices are open. All staff employees at all campus locations must report on time, remain at work or utilize liberal leave.
Closed
In extreme weather conditions the university and all campus locations will be closed. Essential employees (see below) must remain and/or report, unless otherwise directed by their supervisor. Other employees are not required to take leave.
Essential Employees/Departments
The following departments are considered essential in the event of a university delay/closing due to hazardous conditions unless otherwise notified by the appropriate vice president. Employees assigned to these departments at all campuses are expected to report for their scheduled shift in the event of a university delay/closing.
There are three possible situations, each requiring a different definition of essential personnel. It is understood that unusual, unanticipated circumstances may necessitate management bringing in other departments or personnel in any of these situations.
Situation 1: Winter Holiday Break - (no students or employees on campus except Utility Plant and Police). Utility Plant and Police are considered essential.
Situation 2: Winter/Spring Semester Break - (no students on campus; staff employees on campus). The following departments are considered essential: Facilities (except employees assigned in the Planning and Construction Department and the administrative/clerical staff) and Police are considered essential.
Situation 3: University is in full session - (students, faculty and staff on campus). The following departments are considered essential: Police, all employees assigned in the Facilities (except employees assigned in the Planning and Construction Department and the administrative/clerical staff), Library personnel (designated personnel in Access and Reference Services), Networking and Telecommunications manager, Technology Support Services (one systems administrator), Residence Life staff, Student Health Center, Food Services, Recreation Center, and designated Student Union staff.

Employees
Please carefully review the information below to help you understand how office closings during inclement weather will be handled, particularly if you have telework arrangements.
All employees who have telework arrangements are required to work or use leave on the day of an office closing, unless otherwise authorized by the university.
Unless specifically directed otherwise by management, employees with telework arrangements are expected to work from their alternate worksite during their regularly scheduled work shift for days they are scheduled to physically report to their headquarters or another worksite on the day of the office closing.
Employees with telework arrangements are responsible for ensuring that all equipment and accessories needed to perform assigned duties are in their possession if inclement weather is forecasted.
Essential employees should continue to follow specific guidance from their supervisor to maintain operations.
If you have any specific questions, please direct them to your supervisor.
Stay safe!
