Textbook Assistance

Bloomsburg University has many resources available to students who are in need of help accessing textbooks or educational materials to be successful in courses. Below you will find more information and instructions on receiving these services.

  • Library Textbook Resources
    • Find academic resources available through library subscriptions or from open access sources to support teaching and learning
  • Inclusive Access through the University Bookstore
    • Inclusive access offers course materials to students at lower cost. Students get automatic access to course material when they are enrolled in a course. Inclusive access integrates the cost of course materials into the semester fees and tuition charges. If you have questions regarding inclusive access or need help, contact inclusiveaccess@bloomu.edu
  • Vital Source
    • Texts from a number of publishers can be purchased in a cheaper electronic form on the Vital Source platform
  • Open Educational Resources (OER)
    • Teaching and learning materials that students may freely use and reuse at no cost, and without needing to ask permission are available on OER.
  • Interlibrary Loan
    • Library staff will assist you with locating resources from libraries across the U.S. that are available for loan. For more information, please call the Interlibrary Loan office at 570-389-4218 or send an email to ill@bloomu.edu
  • Financial Aid
    • Financial aid helps students and families/supporters pay for many of the expenses related to college. If you are receiving financial aid and your award exceeds your university charges, you may be eligible to use financial aid to purchase textbooks.
  • Office of Access and Success
    • Students participating in programs offered through the Office of Access and Success may be eligible for various academic supports including access to classroom books and other educational materials.
  • Book Pantry
    • The book pantry was created by Cameron O’Neill, a BU student, with the goal of providing a way for students to easily borrow textbooks. If students would like to donate books or would like to borrow a textbook, they can visit the Andruss Library circulation desk and ask to staff at the desk to access the Book Pantry. Students are encouraged to donate books they no longer need and those who borrow are strongly encouraged to return books at the end of each semester.
  • BU Emergency Scholarship
    • In the event a student has exhausted all financial aid resources (including student and parent loans) or a student is experiencing an unexpected personal crisis, they may be eligible for BU Emergency Scholarship funds. For more information, please contact Financial Aid at buaid@bloomu.edu or call 570-389-4297
