Health Science Tracks
- Applied Health Studies- Are you currently certified, licensed, or registered in a healthcare profession? If so, this track will build on your current knowledge and skills as you continue your education and earn a bachelor's degree. You will benefit from attaining core knowledge at an advanced level that applies to all healthcare practitioners while establishing a more marketable, multi-skilled background.
- General/Pre-Professional- This track will prepare you for entry into a variety of professional programs. Recent graduates have earned advanced degrees in medicine, dentistry, optometry, pharmacy, and other allied health professions. It also prepares you for employment in health-related fields such as sales within the pharmaceutical or surgical/medical equipment industries.
- Pre-Accelerated 2nd Degree Nursing- A common goal of our faculty is to graduate outstanding students who are ready and able to provide excellent nursing care and services using theory and evidence-based practice. The program prepares our students to make judgments and carry out nursing care based on critical thinking and research-based knowledge for health promotion and maintenance, prevention of disease, and rehabilitation.
- Pre-Pharmacy- As a pre-health professions student at Commonwealth University, our cross-campus team will work with you to provide the advice, valuable feedback, workshops, medical school contacts, medical internships, and admissions test assistance you’ll need to be competitive in gaining admission to post-graduate schools.
- Pre-Physical Therapy- Are you interested in a challenging and rewarding career choice that will make a positive impact on the health of Americans? As healthcare providers, physical therapists diagnose and treat individuals of all ages by conducting evaluations, and developing treatment plans that promote mobility, decrease pain, restore function, and prevent disability.
- Pre-Physician Assistant- As healthcare providers, physician assistants practice medicine in collaboration with a physician or surgeon. They examine patients, diagnose and treat injuries and illnesses, prescribe medications, and provide treatment. Over the next decade, the employment of physician assistants is projected to grow much faster than the average for other occupations.
- Public Health and Community Education- Community and Public Health Education is an expanding field of work. This track will prepare you for entry-level community health and public health education and promotion positions in settings such as public health departments, non-profit agencies, corporations, and hospitals. Typical tasks of health education professionals include assessing the health of populations and planning, implementing, and evaluating health programs designed to change health behaviors and improve overall health. Graduates will be prepared to sit for national exams and enter graduate programs.
