On Thursday, March 30, at 7:30 PM in Carver Hall, Dr. Charisse Baldoria will give a solo piano concert while showing images by local artists Clay Corbin (also an ornithologist and Bloomsburg biology professor), Doug Gross (a local ornithologist), and Ashley Lopez (a Bloomsburg alumna and co-owner of The Art Grind), as well as Philippine National Artist Abdulmari Imao. Titled “Mirrors,” the concert considers how humans and the world reflect each other—and modify each other along the way. On the program are Maurice Ravel’s Miroirs, two Pennsylvania premieres of compositions by Dr. Baldoria, and a bird-inspired set of works by Enrique Granados, Amy Beach, Bernardino Custodio, Federico Mompou, and Takashi Yoshimatsu. Dr. Baldoria will also perform her Sea Lion Sonatina along with videos of the Galapágos sea lions taken during her recent trip there.
Program:
- Ravel: Miroirs
- Granados: Laments, or the Maiden and the Nightingale
- Yoshimatsu: Interlude with Birds
- Custodio: Sarimanok
- Beach: A Hermit Thrush at Eve
- Mompou: Pajaro triste
- Baldoria: Hummingbird
