Add to Calendar 2024-04-18 18:30:00 2024-04-18 20:30:00 Documentary Film: Tantura How do we deal with the past as a nation especially when remembering is politically charged? Tantura, by Israeli filmmaker Alon Schwarz, won awards at the DocAviv (Tel Aviv), Norwegian Peace Film Award and Philadelphia Film Festival in addition to nominations in Sundance, Israeli Film Academy Awards, Hong Kong International Film Festival among others. Soon after its release in 2022 NY Times published an extensive piece on how the documentary reopened “a debate about Israel’s foundational story.”  The documentary will complement our understanding of the history of this conflict as well as shed insight into why talking about the conflict has been so difficult and problematic around the world and in Israel.  The documentary runs for 110 minutes and is available through Kanopy. A Q&A session will follow the screening. Attendance will be taken for faculty who wish to keep track of students attending the screening of this documentary.Contact M.
