Commonwealth University Trustees hold initial meeting

The initial meeting of the Council of Trustees (COT) meeting for Commonwealth University was held at Bloomsburg on Wednesday, Oct. 5. One of the first orders of business for the trustees was to vote on a new slate of officers.

Named as the first chair of the COT was John Wetzel, while Karen Russell was named vice chair with Mike Hanna, Jr. as secretary and Dan Elby as trustee at large.

In addition, the trustees approved faculty emeritus status for Bloomsburg faculty:

  • Dr. Christopher Armstrong, Department of Sociology, Social Work and Criminal Justice
  • Dr. Jeffrey Davis, Department of History
  • Dr. Christopher Donahue, Department of Languages and Cultures
  • Dr. Michael Hickey, Department of History
  • Dr. William Hudon, Department of History
  • Dr. Cheryl Jackson, Department of Nursing
  • Dr. Douglas Karsner, Department of History
  • Dr. Thomas Klinger, Department of Biological and Allied Health Sciences
  • Dr. Kurt Smith, Department of Philosophy
  • Dr. Luke Springman, Department of Languages and Cultures

From Lock Haven, faculty emeritus status was granted to:

  • Dr. Ramona Broomer, Department of Visual and Performing Arts
  • Dr. Fay Cook, Department of Health Sciences
  • Dr. Shonah Hunter, Department of Biology
  • Dr. Cheryl Newburg, Department of Psychology

Also, the Fall 2022 enrollment update was presented along with announcing the newest members of the academic leadership.
