Megan Beck is a double major at Bloomsburg.

Summer internships provide college students with real life experiences and practical skills for the future.

For Bloomsburg University senior, Megan Beck from Nazareth, Pa, an internship with the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce this past summer gave her that experience and more.

The organizational communication and public relations double major created online and print media to promote events hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, such as golf tournaments, ribbon cuttings, and the Chamber’s largest fundraiser: Snow Ball 2021. Beck also volunteered at these various events.

“I learned how to utilize programs such as Hootsuite and Constant Contact in order to schedule posts on social media and create mass emails,” said Beck. “I also learned how important networking is between organizations.”

“My internship also helped prepare me for a career,” she said. “The online programs I learned will help me create content for my future clients.”

After graduating, Beck wants to start her own business creating promotional materials and managing social media for small businesses. She would like to start offering her services to her local community in the Lehigh Valley but wants to expand this idea across the country.
